Sherri Strauss My name is Sherri Strauss, and this is my fifth year as a part of the Manitas Community. I have been teaching since 1983, and have taught special education, second grade and third grade. Helping all students reach their potential is very important to me. I am originally from Philadelphia, but have been an Arizona resident since graduating from ASU. My husband, Steve, and I have two sons. Adam is 24, and an Architect. David is 20, and is a sophomore at ASU. I enjoy travel, all sports and games, reading, music, yoga, photography, and doing outdoor activities at my mountain home.
Mrs. Mann I love being a resource teacher at Manitas! I've taught for eleven years and have also been a third and fourth grade teacher. Being a resource teacher is my favorite because I get to be in so many different classrooms and get to know so many different children across the grade levels. I get to learn what's happening in classrooms throughout the school. I have two children and a chihuahua named Kelly. My husband is also a teacher. He teaches second grade in Scottsdale. So that you can get to know me better, here is a little more information: College: I attended U of A and ASU;I received a BA in English/Creative Writing and a BA in Education. Favorite non-fiction book: I like reading a lot and it fills most of my spare time. Some of my favorite non-fiction books are How Full is Your Bucket by Tom Rath, Nurture Shock by Po Bronson, A Whole New Mind by Daniel H. Pink, and Secrets of the Teenage Brain by Sheryl G. Feinstein. Favorite Fiction book: This is a tough one! I like almost anything by Kate DiCamillo with my favorite being The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Favorite Movie: I really enjoyed Avatar. I also loved Despicable Me. It was fun to watch it at Manitas Movie Night last Spring. Favorite things to do in my spare time: Mostly I spend time gardening, hiking, rock climbing at the gym, reading, hanging out with my family and playing with my dog. Favorite food: Rubios portabella mushroom tacos & peanut butter - but not together. :-) Talents that I wish I had: I wish I could play the guitar and sing. How I spend my summer: I sleep in, garden, swim and hike in Flagstaff.
