Cool, Calm and Confident:

This 8 week program teaches assertiveness skills to build self-esteem. The outcomes of this group help children to:

  • Learn the difference between passive, aggressive, and assertive behavior
  • Behave in ways that discourage teasing, bullying and being bullied
  • Understand their rights and stand up for themselves
  • Stay calm and learn skills for managing anger
  • Make real and lasting friendships

This group will read exerpts from the book titled Cool, Calm and Confident: A Workbook to Help Kids Learn Assertiveness Skills By Lisa M. Schab, New Harbinger Publications. It is an excellent resource to have at home.

Anger Management:

This 8 week program teaches assertiveness skills to build self-esteem. Through a series of stories, activities and discussions children learn to:

  • Learn the difference between passive, aggressive, and assertive behavior
  • Devolop ready responses to use when angry
  • Learn how to get along better with teachers
  • Learn ways to help the adults at home help them

This group will read excerpts from the book titled The Behavior Survival Guide for Kids by Tom McIntyre, PhD, Free Spirit Press

Impulse Control:

This 8 week program teaches impulse control strategies. Through a series of games and activities, children learn to:

  • value impuls control
  • anticipate consequences
  • recognize their own feelings and the feelings of others
  • manage their feelings
  • identify and use problem-solving strategies.
